Job Description:

LazyG Brewhouse is a privately owned 10BBL brewpub located in historic downtown Prescott, Arizona.  The new 5000 sf brewery & restaurant is currently under construction and will open Spring 2019.  LazyG is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, technically sound, quality focused Head Brewer to join our start-up brewpub.  A qualified candidate must have experience and demonstrated ability running a commercial brewery operation. 

The Head Brewer will be responsible to lead all aspects of brewery operations, to include beer production, storage and inventory management.  Duties will include raw materials acquisition and handling, recipe formulation, brewing, wort production, fermentation and conditioning management, including fermenter/brite CIP & sanitation, monitoring fermentation dry-hopping, yeast management, transferring beers between tanks, monitoring conditioning, kegging and keg washing and detailed recordkeeping, equipment maintenance, laboratory work, cleaning and sanitation. 

The Head Brewer will be integral with the development and future success of the brewery. Job Requirements:

·         Raw materials acquisition and inventory control; receiving, storing all raw materials & supplies
·         Manage inventories of beer and raw materials, including grain, hops, yeast and chemicals
·         Staging raw materials, ensuring all inventory and materials necessary are available for production
·         Maintaining the use of standard operating procedures in brewery and production
·         Proficiency in all areas of brewing; accurately and precisely follow recipes
·         Complete lab testing and quality control procedures
·         Malt handling & milling; mashing & wort production; boil & hopping
·         Perform wort and beer transfers
·         Yeast pitching/management/tracking; fermenting; dry hop tanks
·         Monitor gravities, temperatures, and carbonation of beer
·         Graining out; handling of spent grain
·         Keep brewery equipment clean and organized
·         Develop and adhere to brewing, kegging, transferring, and cellaring procedures
·         Clean and fill kegs; inventory management
·         CIP tanks and equipment; cleaning and sanitation
·         Procedures for all brewery operations and equipment including compliance with CIP standards
·         Must observe and practice all brewery safety procedures; always includes wearing the proper PPE
·         OSHA Safety compliance and continual training; practice environmental compliance always
·         Must always prioritize safety of yourself and other team members; strive to constantly improve the safety of your work environment
·         Local health department and food safety knowledge

·        Must be willing to work during any days and hours of operation including weekends, evenings, and special events as required with a flexible schedule
·        Keep up with brewing industry trends and best practices
·         Principles and processes for providing excellent customer service
·         Work with management to maintain engaging and accurate social media presence
  • People skills are a must and will be required to communicate with guests
·         Perform other jobs in the brewpub as needed, and serve as a spokesperson for brewpub
·         Provide tours of the brewery and brewpub as requested 
  • Bartender shifts as needed and help behind the bar as needed
  • Cleaning of beer lines for brewpub
·         Provide guidance and direction to other employees, including setting standards and work
  • Giving detailed beer tour/class to all new employees, and facilitation of your own beer test
  • Coaching all front of house employees to prepare for Cicerone beer server test
·         Attend and participate in all management meetings as required

·        Must be at least 21 years of age
·         Brewing Certificate/Degree or Brewery Experience required
·         Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a brewer role at an established commercial brewing company with a 5BBL brewhouse or larger
·         Genuine passion for craft beer, enthusiasm, high standards and commitment to excellence
·         Proven creativity and ability to develop quality recipes
  •  Proficient laboratory skills are necessary
  • Ability to think critically, outside the box and propose new ideas

  • Strong work ethic, self-starting attitude with reputation of integrity and doing the right thing
·         Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends with little supervision

·         Fundamental knowledge of plumbing and machinery mechanics inherent to the brew process
