Job Description:


We're a well established craft brewery in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia.  We pride ourselves in producing delicious beer and constantly pushing the limits of our creativity and standards for quality.  We're looking for a creative, passionate brewer who's looking to make a mark on the West Coast brewing scene.  As a brewer/cellar person, your daily duties will include:
  • Operate either of our 2 brewhouses.  The newest addition houses a 88 plate Meura mash press, twin kettles and a GEA centrifuge.
  • Help to design exciting small batch brews to supply our tasting room, opening early 2018
  • Measure and record daily gravity readings
  • Perform tank and equipment CIP's 
  • Pitch yeast using an Aber Yeast Yeast Monitor
  • Dry hop FV's
  • Filter and transfer beer
  • Produce low wines on our 3000L pot still 
  • Wrangle hoses
  • Perform accurate monthly inventory counts
  • Exercise excellent housekeeping and maintain a tidy workspace

Job Requirements:

A successful candidate must possess:
 
  • 3+ years of brewing experience
  • An unyielding passion for quality, craft brewed beer
  • A passion for creating new recipes and developing new styles
  • Formal education in brewing science or related field
  • Intimate knowledge of the brewing process and brewing related equipment
  • Strong knowledge of CIP processes and proper sanitary practices
  • Willingness to work monthly rotating shifts including occasional weekends and holidays
  • A motivated, self-driven work ethic with the desire to produce consistent, quality results
  • Strong communication skills and the desire to be part of a motivated and hardworking team
  • The capacity to follow direction and proper operating procedures
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to problem solve independently
  • The ability to repeatedly lift 25kg
  • Effective time management and the ability to tackle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good common sense and the competence to work quickly yet safely
  • The physical ability to work standing, stooping, crawling, pushing and pulling in hot and cold environments
